ABOUT BOLD MELLON
Bold Mellon is an award-nominated arts collective dedicated to amplifying intersectional queer stories, founded by Amy-Rose Edlyn and Emilia Nurmukhamet.
Our work focuses on an interdisciplinary approach to performance: combining live sound, digital media and performance art alongside focusing on autobiographical and documentary style writing. We also produce cabaret, scratch performances, live music, club nights and curate visual art events – providing a platform for emerging and early career queer artists to experiment, collaborate and express themselves!
Our debut show BELINDA (**** Everything Theatre) has been nominated for an Offies Award In IDEA Production for its run at the Vaults Festival 2023, then transferring to Kings Head Theatre as a part of the Queer Interrogation Season and Camden People’s Theatre as a part of the New Adventures Festival. Our most recent production of KLAZO performed as a part of Social Model & More Festival at Theatre Deli has been described as ‘an outstanding’ , ‘mesmerizing’ , ‘impressive’, ‘visceral’ and ‘compelling’ performance (Fringebiscuit Magazine & The Reviews Hub). Our public exhibition QUEER JOY commissioned by This is Croydon Mayor’s Borough of London has been described as ‘affirming’, ‘encouraging’ and ‘nourishing’ by our audiences and community members.
Artists in residence at Lyric Hammersmith Theatre (2021) , Above the Stag Theatre (2021-2022), Stanley Arts (2022-2023), Kings Head Theatre (2024) and Ugly Duck (2024) . We’ve also worked with The Place, Contact Manchester, Royal Docks, The Social, VFDalston, Hen and Chickens Theatre and Rich Mix.
